Michigan Muslims Sell out Palestinians-Support Trump
Last night Imam Belal Alzuhairi of Michigan, wherein there is a large constituency of Muslims and Arabs, and some other “prominent Muslim leaders” endorsed former President Donald Trump to win the upcoming presidential elections scheduled to take place on November 5th.
Alzuhairi said:
“We, as Muslims, stand with President Trump because he promises peace-he promises, peace, not war.”
And he also said in his speech:
“The bloodshed has to stop all over the world, and I think this man can make that happen. I personally believe that God save his life twice for a reason.”
“We support Donald J. Trump for his commitment for promoting family values and protecting our children…”
“We as Muslims support this man, because we believe that he will be a president for all Americans embracing every race color and religion.”
“We are with President Trump because we want a strong border.”
These are some of the statements he made in his endorsement of Trump to a raucous crowd in Michigan. Below are several acts of the man he endorsed:
‘Man of Peace’
In March of this year as Israel was in the midst of bombing hospitals and refugee camps Trump made no condemnations whatsoever to the mass killings that the entire world has witnessed. Instead he said regarding Israel, “You have to finish up your war.”
He also said regarding how Israel is going about the war, “I’m loving the way they’re doing it, because you’ve got to have victory. You have to have a victory, and it’s taking a long time,” Trump said in an interview with The Hugh Hewitt Show that aired in April of this year.
Muslim Ban
In the first month of his Presidency in 2017 Trump ordered a travel ban from several predominantly Muslim countries.
Embassy to Jerusalem
In 2018 as president, Trump relocated the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the entirety of the city to the exclusion of any Palestinian right. In 2020 Trump stated that “Jerusalem will remain Israel’s undivided capital.”
Cut UNRWA Funding
In 2018 former President Trump cut UNRWA funding which provides essential services to Palestinian refugees.
Endorsed Israeli Settlements in the West Bank
In 2019, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, representing Trump stated, “The establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law.”
Support for a Muslim Database in America
In November 2015, during an interview with NBC News, Trump was asked if he would create a database to track Muslims in the United States. He responded, “I would certainly implement that, absolutely.” When pressed further on whether there should be a database for Muslims, he reiterated, “I would certainly look at it very seriously.”
In a similar context, Trump was also asked by reporters about the idea of requiring Muslims to carry special identification cards. While he did not explicitly confirm support for this, he did say, “We’re going to have to do things that we never did before,” suggesting openness to policies that target Muslims.
Trump has since walked back some of the statements regarding support for a Muslim Database but his initial support for the idea has left people wondering if he went back on his previous statements due to widespread condemnation and pressure or because he repented from his previous ideas.
The foundations of Belal Alzuhair’s faith in Donald Trump not clear. However in an interview after the rally Alzuhairi was confronted with some of the above mentioned past deeds and comments committed by Trump and he said, “We want to move on from the past.”
Kamala Harris’ support for the genocide in Gaza coupled with her refusal to distance herself from the genocidal policies of the Biden administration has made her a toxic choice as well for president leaving many Muslims looking to support third party candidates.
